Overnighter

So, with the 6th-8th Grade Lock-In and Sr. High Retreat coming up, I thought I'd share this with you. It's almost a year old, but it's pretty funny - now, don't get any ideas! :-)

Some awesome music

So I just downloaded some great songs this morning off iTunes. They're from this emergent Christian artist you may have heard of - Brad Schilling. He's been involved with Casowasco for many years - we actually were campers together two or three times - and is doing great ministry through his musical gifts through this album and at a church in Buffalo. Anyway, he's released some songs on iTunes and they're great. "Where Our Father Lives" is a great piece about how God speaks to us throughout our lives in many different ways - the good times, the bad times, and everywhere in between. "Loving Me" tells a story about a love that goes on as we grow up and grow old. They've both got a great folk sound to them, and I can't wait to see what else Brad comes out with. To find his music, just type "Brad Schilling" into the search field in the iTunes Store.

On a semi-related note, CJ stopped by yesterday afternoon and played some Christian rap for me by a group called OGM. Now, it's no "Gospel Gangsta" :-p , but it was pretty awesome. You can check them out at purevolume - http://www.purevolume.com/ogm .

GodTube!

So, we all know about YouTube... but Bethany has told me there's a Christian-oriented video sharing site as well, called (as you might think) GodTube! After a quick glance, it looks pretty cool. They even have the random music video from the end of "Down Under The Big Top" for The Newsboys song, "Shine". A new favorite song of mine is "O Praise Him" by the David Crowder Band, and GodTube's got a live performance of it. At Casowasco last summer, we sang "No One Like You" by David Crowder. ...or, as Travis called it a few weeks ago when we were preparing for the Sunrise Service, "No One Likes You".

Of course, some of the favorite videos that I've come across so far on GodTube, I've already seen on YouTube - the Christ-Follower/Christian parodies of the Mac/PC Commercials. I saw these a few months ago, and thought they were pretty cool because they illustrate that following Christ isn't a set of do's and don't's. Being a Christian isn't about dressing up nice for church, and it's not about showing everyone how religious you are by putting your offering where everyone can see it. Being a Christian is a more personal thing, and you can do more good by being like Christ than you can by shouting at people about Christ.

Anyway... check out GodTube!
